The 2019 Billboard Music Awards got underway on Wednesday night (May 1) with an epic performance from pop megastar Taylor of her new single, the recently released "Me!"
With the song's featured guest, Brendon Urie of Panic! At the Disco in tow, Taylor kicked off the performance with a drumline filling the aisles of the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas -- with everyone wearing all pink, of course, to go with the color scheme that's accompanied the "Me!" release thusfar. Multi-color-dressed dancers helped a sparkly rainbow-dressed Taylor recreate choreography from the song's video, while Urie crashed the stage from above in a paint-splashed silver suit.
As she frequently does during her award show performances, Swift changed the words to "Me!" to fit the occasion, turning the song's already meme-starting "Spelling is fun!" exclamation to "Vegas is fun!" She and Urie then gave back-and-forth "I'm Taylor!" "I'm Brendan!" self-intros, before Swift declared, "Welcome to the Billboard Music Awards!" The two finished the performance by floating off the stage on a giant umbrella.
Taylor Swift is nominated for top female artist and top touring artist at this year's BBMAs. Since the song and accompanying video debuted last Friday (Apr. 27), it's broken the YouTube record for most-viewed video in 24 hours by a female artist, as well as the overall 24-hour record on VEVO.
